Use Engagement Activity Filters to Search

Overview

Filters enable you to include or exclude specific subsets of data when you search for new contacts or accounts in Apollo. This helps you to better segment and personalize your team's approach so you can find and engage with the right contacts at the right time.

You can access many types of filters in Apollo. Engagement activity filters helps identify contacts and accounts based on activities such as emails sent, emails replied, and sequence status.

 
Check Your Apollo Plan

The availability of certain search filters is based on your Apollo plan. Please refer to Apollo's pricing page for more information.

The following sections detail how to access and use engagement activity filters.

Access Engagement Activity Filters

To find and use engagement activity filters:

  1. Launch Apollo and click Search > People or Companies. Most of the engagement activity filters are available only when searching contacts.
  2. To access all of the search filters, click More Filters. View all search filters.
  3. Open the Type drop-down, then keep only the Engagement Activity option active. Apply Filters
  4. Apply the company info filters you want to use for the search. Then, click Apply Filters to save the changes. Save your changes.

Sequence

Filter your search by the assigned sequence of a contact or account in Apollo

 
Sequences

For more information about sequences, refer to Sequences Overview.

To do so, expand the Sequence accordion.

Click the Include Sequences drop-down and select the sequences you want to add.

Include Sequences

To make the search more specific, click the appropriate option:

  • Click Include contacts in ANY sequences above if you want to find contacts that exist in any of the sequences you added, regardless of their status—Active, Paused, Finished, Bounced, or Not Sent. This is an OR Search.
  • Click Include ACTIVE contacts in ANY sequences above if you want to filter contacts that are currently part of a sequence. If you enable this option, you cannot view any contacts with a Paused, Finished, Bounced, or Not Sent status.
  • Click Include contacts SIMULTANEOUSLY ACTIVE in ALL sequences above if you only want to filter contacts that are currently active in every one of the sequences you selected. This is an AND Search.

To exclude sequences from your search, click Show Advanced and select the sequences you want to exclude.

To make the search more specific, click the appropriate option:

  • Click Exclude contacts in ANY sequences above if you want to exclude contacts that exist in any of the sequences you added, regardless of their status—Active, Paused, Finished, Bounced, or Not Sent. This is an OR Search.
  • Click Exclude ACTIVE contacts in ANY sequences above if you want to exclude contacts that are currently part of a sequence. If you enable this option, you can only view contacts with a Paused, Finished, Bounced, or Not Sent status.
  • Click Exclude contacts SIMULTANEOUSLY ACTIVE in ALL sequences above if you want to exclude any contacts that are currently active in every one of the sequences you selected. This is an AND Search.

To remove a sequence from your search, click the sequence name in the search bar. To remove all sequences, click either X.

Last Activity

Filter your search by last activity to target the contacts that you engaged most recently or contacted within a specific timeframe.

To do so, expand the Last Activity accordion.

Click the From and To fields, then use the calendar to select a date range.

You can also filter by timeframe. Click the From or To field, then click the Timeframe tab in the calendar.

Use the drop-down options to select a timeframe. Then, click Apply.

To delete the timeframe or dates, click X.

Email Sent

Filter your search by email sents to target the contacts to whom you have or have not sent emails.

To do so, expand the Email Sent accordion. Click Yes to find the contacts to whom you have previously sent emails, or click No to find the contacts to whom you have not sent any emails.

Email Opened

Filter your search by whether contacts have opened your emails.

To do so, expand the Email Opened accordion. Click the Opened Email drop-down, then select either Yes to find contacts that have opened your emails or No to find contacts that have not opeend your emails..

To filter by the number of times that a contact has opened your emails, set the minimum amount in the Opened at least _ times field.

If you want to filter by when a contact last opened your emails, click the From and To fields and use the calendar to select a date range.

To find contacts that opened your emails in a certain timeframe, click the Timeframe tab in the calendar and choose a timeframe. Then, click Apply.

To remove the filter from your search, click the X.

Email Clicked

Filter your search by whether contacts have or have not clicked any of the links in the emails you sent them.

To do so, expand the Email Clicked accordion. Click the Clicked on an email link drop-down, then select Yes to find contacts who have clicked links in your emails or select No to find contacts who have not clicked links in your emails.

To filter by the number of times that a contact has clicked the links in your emails, set the minimum amount in the Clicked at least _ times field.

To filter by when a contact last clicked on any links in your emails, click the From and To fields and use the calendar to select a date range.

To find contacts that clicked in links your emails in a certain timeframe, click the Timeframe tab in the calendar and choose a timeframe. Then, click Apply.

To remove the filter from your search, click the X.

Email Replied

Filter your search by whether contacts have replied to your emails.

To do so, expand the Email Replied accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts who have replied to your emails or click No to find contacts who have not replied to your emails.

Email Meeting Set

Filter your search by whether a contact set a meeting via your emails. Find the contacts in the "interested" stage, with whom you have or have not set a meeting.

To do so, expand the Email Meeting Set accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts with whom you have set a meeting or click No to find contacts with whom you have not set a meeting.

Email Bounced

Filter your search by whether contacts received the emails you sent them or the emails bounced.

To do so, expand the Email Bounced accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts that did not receive your emails or click No to find contacts that did receive your emails.

Email Unsubscribed

Filter your search by whether contacts have unsubscribed from your emails.

To do so, expand the Email Unsubscribed accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts who have unsubscribed from your emails or click No find contacts who have not unsubscribed from your emails.

Email Spamblocked

Filter your search by whether contacts have flagged your email as spam.

To do so, expand the Email Spamblocked accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts who have not received your emails due to spam blocking or click No to find contacts who have received your emails without trouble.

Email Auto Responder

Filter your search by whether contacts emailed you an auto-response message.

To do so, expand the Email Auto-Responder accordion. Then, click Yes to find contacts that have sent you an auto-response message or click No to find contacts that have not sent you an auto-response message.

Account Engagement (Company Search Only)

Filter your search by when you lasted contact an account and how many times you contacted them.

To do so, expand the Account Engagement accordion.

To filter by when you last contacted an account, click the From and To fields and use the calendar to select a date range.

For further specificity, click the Timeframe tab and select an exact timeframe. Then, click Apply.

To filter by how many times the account has been contacted, set the minimum number of contact attempts.
