Overview
Custom fields allow you to capture individualized research about a contact, account, or user and leverage them in Apollo sequence email templates for open-time personalization. Custom Account fields allow you to capture information about individual companies so you can easily re-use it in a template.
Refer to the section below for additional details about how to create custom fields for accounts.
Create a Custom Account Field
Launch Apollo and then click Settings.
Click Accounts.
Click Custom Fields.
Click + New Field.
On the "Add Custom Account Field" modal, type a descriptive name in the Name text-box.
Select the field Type from the drop-down.
The available field types include:
Field Name | Description |
---|---|
Single-line text | Allows you to include a single line of text for the field. You must specify the maximum number of characters for the field. |
Multi-line text | Allows you to include a string of text that spans multiple lines. You must specify the maximum number of characters for the field. Line breaks count against the total character count. |
Number | Allows you to include a number with or without decimals. You cannot use non-numeric characters. |
Date | Allows you to type a date in the format of Day/Month/Year or select a date with the calendar widget. |
Date/Time | Allows you to type a date in the format of Day/Month/Year or select a date with the calendar widget. Allows you to select a time in half-hour increments from the drop-down. |
Checkbox | Allows you to specify either True or False within the field's drop-down. |
Picklist | Allows you to include an existing picklist or create a new picklist with defined values. You can only select one value from the picklist. For additional information about creating picklists, please see Create Global Picklists. |
Picklist (Multi-Select) | Allows you to include an existing picklist or create a new picklist with defined values. You can only select multiple values from the picklist. For additional information about creating picklists, please see Create Global Picklists. |
Lookup-User | Allows you to specify a user from your account via a drop-down. |
Please note, once you create a custom field you cannot change the type.
Once you define the field Type, if you have connected Salesforce to your account, you can select a Salesforce Account Field with which to link this field. This field is optional.
Use the checkbox below the Salesforce options to mark this Account Field as read-only. This means that Apollo will pull data directly from the mapped Salesforce fields but will not push data to Salesforce.
If you have selected Picklist or Picklist (Multi-Select) for the field Type, you have 2 options:
- Select a previously created picklist value set. Click the drop-down for your available options.

Create a new picklist value set and add the options that you would like to appear in the contact's profile.
After you finish configuring the custom Account Field, click Save.
Your new custom Account Field is now usable in an Account's profile.
