Overview
Apollo automatically assigns you as the owner when you save a Contact or Account. However, if you sync the Contacts and Accounts from your CRM with Apollo, Apollo automatically assigns the original owner of the records in your CRM as the owner of those records in Apollo.
To ensure that you also push ownership of the Contacts and Accounts that you save in Apollo to Salesforce, please refer to the "Salesforce Record Owner" section of the "Salesforce Credentials Overview" article. If you use Hubspot, please refer to the "Configure Hubspot Basic Settings" article for more information.
There are several reasons you may want to edit the owner of a Contact or Account in Apollo:
- Deactivated Users: If a user is no longer active, you need to assign a new owner to any records currently owned by the deactivated user.
- Structural Changes: If you restructure your team, or make changes to your sales strategy, you must ensure that all users have the right access to the Contacts and Accounts with which they need to interact.
- Territories Allocation: If you allocate territories to your users, it is best to ensure that they are owners of the records within their given territories. This allows you to take advantage of permission profiles to avoid multiple users reaching out to the same Contacts.
Refer to the sections below for instructions on how to change the owner of a Contact or Account.
