Overview
Apollo helps you engage the right prospects at the right time by providing timely insights into the research behavior of your ideal customers, making it easier to identify when companies are showing interest in relevant buying topics.
Leverage buying intent on Apollo to prospect smarter. When a company searches for topics related to your product or service, Apollo captures an intent signal, then ranks the company by buying intent score, allowing you to easily identify and target potential customers.
To get started, select buying intent topics, then search by buying intent.
Access to buying intent topics and search filters depends on your Apollo plan. If you need access to buying intent, upgrade your plan. If you have questions about upgrading, reach out to the Apollo sales team.

To set buying intent topics, you need access to edit intent topics. If you need help, reach out to an Apollo admin at your organization.
To set buying intent topics:
- Launch Apollo and click Settings > Ideal customer profile > Buying intent.
- Check each buying intent topic you want to use.
- When finished, click Save Intent Topics.
- Alternatively, select buying intent topics on search while prospecting. You can use recommendations from Apollo for quick setup.
You have now set buying intent topics, and you're ready to use buying intent.
Once you set buying intent topics, your organization can only edit buying intent topics again after 24 hours have passed.
To edit buying intent topics, navigate to Settings > Ideal customer profile > Buying intent, then click ✕ to remove existing buying intent topics.
Search by Buying Intent
To search by buying intent:
Did you know? Buying intent is exhibited by companies — not people. Even when you prospect under Search > People, buying intent only surfaces people who work at the companies exhibiting buying intent. These people may not be actively involved in the company's search for a product or service.
- Click Show filters > Buying Intent.
- Check the intent topics and scores that you want to apply to your search.
- (Optional) Click Edit to change your company's buying intent topics.
- Check to add or remove buying intent topics.
- Alternatively, click Recommendations, and Apollo recommends buying intent topics based on your company prospecting activity.
- Add and edit additional search filters to find the right prospects.
- Hover over the buying intent signal next to a company to see more insights, including the intent trend over the past 90 days.
Did you know? You can find contacts from companies exhibiting buying intent. Just select one or more companies, then click Find people. Apollo displays people working at the selected companies. Alternatively, select one or more companies and click Add to lists to create a list of companies matching your buying intent topics.
