Overview
Sequences are outreach campaigns with sequential emails, touchpoints, and tasks that you can customize to engage your target contacts at scale. Sequences can include LinkedIn task steps that require you to take manual action on the prospect's LinkedIn profile. These actions drive engagement and positive interactions with prospects.
You need to be logged into an active LinkedIn account to complete LinkedIn tasks in sequences. You can use a different email account than your Apollo login for LinkedIn.
Create a new LinkedIn account or use an existing one to prospect on LinkedIn in Apollo.
Check out the following sections to complete LinkedIn tasks assigned to you.
Complete LinkedIn Tasks in a Sequence
LinkedIn tasks in sequences on Apollo can be completed from Tasks on Apollo or from the Apollo Chrome extension.
Executing too many LinkedIn tasks at the same time can lead to your account being marked as a bot by LinkedIn. LinkedIn may temporarily restrict your account if you send too many invitations within a short amount of time, or if too many of your invitations have been ignored, left pending, or marked as spam by recipients. Be aware of the amount of connection requests or messages you send.
To complete LinkedIn tasks in your sequence:
- Launch Apollo and click Sequences.
- Click an active sequence.
- Confirm the steps in your sequence are enabled.
- Click Tasks.
- Check each task you want to manage, then click Execute tasks to complete the tasks, or click Archive to skip and archive them.
- On LinkedIn, complete the task:
- View profile: View a contact's LinkedIn profile to gain specific information such as education history, job history, current company details, and colleagues. When completed, this step takes you to the contact's LinkedIn profile and marks the task as completed.
- Interact with post: Interact with a contact's posts on LinkedIn. When completed, this step takes you to the activity section of a contact's LinkedIn profile and marks the task as completed. On LinkedIn, you can manually interact with the contact's post.
- Send connection request: Connection requests allow you to direct message a contact and may be necessary to see and interact with a contact's posts. When completed, this step automatically sends a connection request to a contact and if it succeeds, marks the task as completed. You can send connection requests with or without a message.
- Send message: When completed, this task sends a direct message to a contact and, if successful, marks the task as complete. This should be the last step in developing a relationship with a contact through LinkedIn because the contact must be a connection of yours on LinkedIn before a message can be sent to them. You should only message a contact directly if you're sure they would like to speak with you. Otherwise, it may feel like spam.
When you send connection requests or messages on LinkedIn, you can create a template. Use snippets and dynamic variables to personalize outreach in your messages. Check out Create and Edit Snippets and Use Basic Dynamic Variables to learn more.
If a contact doesn't have a LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn tasks can't be completed and should be archived.
You have now completed a LinkedIn task in a sequence. A message from Apollo appears in LinkedIn to confirm the tasks have been completed.
Troubleshoot LinkedIn Task Errors
If Apollo encounters a problem executing a task for a specific contact, you will see an error icon next to the contact's name.
There are a few reasons why you might encounter an error when executing a LinkedIn task:
- You may have attempted to complete a send message task before the contact accepted your LinkedIn request. Apollo can only send messages to contacts that are already part of your LinkedIn network. If you see this error, try completing the task once the contact has accepted your connection request.
- You may use Sales Navigator. Apollo doesn't currently support LinkedIn automation for send message tasks if you have an active Sales Navigator subscription.
