Overview
Filters allow you to include or exclude specific subsets of data when you search for new Contacts or Accounts in Apollo. This helps you to better segment and personalize your team's approach so you can find and engage with the right contacts at the right time.
You can access many types of Filters in Apollo.
Apollo divides all Filters into 6 main categories: Settings Filters, Person Info, Company Info, Engagement Activity, Created Source, and Miscellaneous.
Refer to the sections below to find out more about how to search and prospect with Company Info Filters.
Access Company Info Filters
Launch Apollo, click Search in the navbar, and then click People or Companies.
Click Show More Filters.
In the Filters modal, scroll to the Filters related to Company Info.
Refer to the sections below for further details about each Filter. When you have selected all the Filters you need and are ready to search, click Apply Filters.
Company
You can filter by company. This means you can search for the companies most relevant to your sales strategy.
To filter by Company, expand the accordion.
There are several ways to filter by company.
If you want to target specific companies, click the Is any of radio button and use the drop-down to search for and select the companies of your choice.
If you want to exclude specific companies, click the Is not any of checkbox. Then, use the drop-down to search for and select the companies that you do not want to include in the search.
If you access the Company filter from the People Search page, you can click the Include past company checkbox to search for the companies that a contact has previously worked for. Then, use the drop-down to search for and select which companies to include.
Click the Is known radio button if you want to search for the company profiles with fully enriched domains.
Click the Is unknown radio button to search for the company profiles without fully enriched domains.
If you have a list of companies that you want to use to search in bulk, click Include / exclude list of companies. Then, type the list of domains that you want to include or exclude from the search.
To ensure your list reflects in the search, click Save and Search.
Account HQ Location
You can filter by HQ locations. This means that you can choose to target or exclude accounts with HQs in a particular area or region.
To filter by Account HQ Location, expand the accordion.
Choose "Region" or "Zip + Radius" and select the HQ locations that you would like to include.
Please note, the "Zip + Radius" Filter is only available for Net New Records and not for Saved records.
Click Exclude Locations to select the HQ locations that you want to exclude.
Employee Headcount
You can filter by the number of employees a company has. This means that you can choose to target small, medium, or enterprise companies, depending on your sales approach.
To filter by Employees, expand the accordion.
Click the checkboxes to enable the appropriate ranges. You can select as many as needed.
You also have the option to enable the # of employees is unknown checkbox.
Please note, if you enable the # of employees is unknown field, you cannot check any other option.
Headcount Growth
You can filter by employee headcount growth rate. This means that you can target the specific companies that have seen a rate of growth that lies within a particular percentage range, timeframe, and company department.
To filter by Headcount growth, expand the accordion.
Type in the minimum and maximum numbers to set a range for the percentage of employee growth within a company.
Then, click the Timeframe drop-down to set the number of months by which you want to calculate the growth rate.
If you want to filter by the employee growth rate within a particular department, click the Department drop-down and select the department of your choice. You can only filter by the headcount growth of 1 department at a time.
You have now applied the Headcount growth filter to a search.
You can remove the Headcount growth filter from a search at any time. To do so, click the X on the right of the Headcount growth filter.
Industry and Keywords
You can filter by industry. This means that you can target specific markets based on the niche(s) your company serves.
To filter by Industry, expand the Industry & Keywords accordion.
There are 2 ways to select your chosen Industries:
- Use the Search bar to type the Industries that you want to include.
- Click the drop-down and scroll through the list of options.
To add an Industry, click on the industry title and it appears in the search.
To remove an Industry, click on the industry title in the search bar.
To delete all Industries, click either X.
Click Advanced Settings to increase the level of specificity in a search. Enable the Is Not Any of checkbox to select the Industries that you would like to exclude from the drop-down.
Click Is Known or Is Unknown for a more general search.

You can also access Industry related Keywords from this filter. To do so, expand the Company Keywords accordion.
Type the Keywords that you would like to include and/or exclude. Then, press enter to add the Keyword to the search.
You have the option to increase the specificity of a Keyword Search. To do so, expand the Advanced accordion. Then, use the checkboxes to enable the kind of Keywords that you would like to include or exclude.
Hover your mouse over the (?) icon for further information about each advanced keyword category.
Please note, Keyword Filters may slow down your search. Social media and SEO descriptions can also be inaccurate, so before you enable these checkboxes, please keep this in mind.
SIC Codes
You can filter by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes, which describe the primary business activity of the company you want to target. Once you determine the SIC code of your ideal client, you can use this information to acquire more contacts within the same industry.
For more information about the SIC Codes that Apollo supports, refer to Use Apollo Supported SIC Codes in a Search.
To filter by SIC Codes, expand the accordion for SIC Codes.
Click the Is any of drop-down and select the SIC Codes that you want to include.
Click the Is not any of drop-down and select the SIC Codes that you want to exclude.
To delete an SIC code, click the code in the search bar.
To delete all SIC codes, click either X.
Job Title
You can filter by job title. This means that you can segment a search to include only the most relevant decision-makers for your sales campaign(s).
To filter by job title, expand the accordion.
Type in the job titles that you want to include in a search or click the drop-down and scroll through the available options. There is no limit to how many Titles you can add.
Click the Include past job titles checkbox if you want to add previous job titles to your filtered search. Then, use the drop-down to select the past job titles of your choice.
Technologies
You can filter by technology. This means that you can target companies that use specific technologies that complement your products and services or that cause specific pain points which your company helps to resolve.
Please note, Apollo uses its proprietary technology search engine, combined with leveraging the power of BuiltWith to ensure this information is always up-to-date. Every 2 months Apollo crawls and scrapes 20 million websites to identify the latest technology stack that companies are using.
To filter by Technologies, expand the accordion.
There are 2 ways to select Technologies:
- Use the search bar to type the Technologies that you want to include.
- Click the drop-down and scroll through the list of Technologies.
To delete a Technology, click the technology name in the search bar.
To delete all Technologies, click either X.
For further specificity, click Show Advanced and use the Include ALL drop-down to include all related technologies.

Departments
You can filter by the number and type of employees by Department. This means that you can target small, medium, or enterprise-sized teams within the ideal companies that you want to prospect.
To filter by the number of employees in a Department, expand the accordion.
Click + Add New Department.
Click the drop-down to browse and select the Department of your choice.
You can only select one option from the drop-down. To include additional Departments, click + New Department.
To set a range for the number of employees by Department, type in the Min and Max numbers.
Click either the Trash Can icon or the X to delete a selected Department from the search.
Revenue
You can filter by company Revenue. This means that you can target the specific companies that are most likely to have the budget for your product or services.
Please note, Apollo is not able to provide data accuracy SLAs for Revenue numbers. The Apollo proprietary search engine pulls and collects Revenue data from publicly available sources and can currently only provide data on companies with $2M+.
To filter by Revenue, expand the accordion.
Click the checkbox to enable an applicable option. You can choose between Is Between, Is Known, or Is Unknown.
If you click Is Between, type in the Min Revenue and Max Revenue numbers.
Funding
You can filter by company Funding. This means that you can target the companies that have gained a certain amount or type of funding that may lead to exponential growth and as a result, increased investment in new products or services.
Please note, Apollo uses its own proprietary technology to ensure this information is always up-to-date. Every 2 weeks Apollo examines information from public news and other funding data vendors to identify the latest funding updates.
To filter by Funding, expand the accordion.
Apollo allows you to filter for several aspects related to Funding.
You can specify the Funding amount. Click the checkbox to enable the applicable option.
If you click Is Between, you can add your ideal range of funding. Type in the Min and Max funding amounts.
You can also specify the last Funding round type a company receives. Click the checkboxes to enable the Funding type(s) that you want to add. There is no limit to the number of Funding types that you can enable.
You can set funding round dates to specify between which months a company received its last funding.
To do so, click the From and To fields and select the dates on the calendar.
You can also filter by timeframe. To do so, click the From and To fields, then click the Timeframe tab on the calendar.
Click the drop-down options to input the appropriate timeframe and then, click Apply.
You can also filter by the amount of the last Funding a company received. To do so, type in the Min and Max Funding amounts.
Founded Year
You can filter by the year in which a company was founded. This means you can target companies with similar pain points based on the business model or solutions they used to establish their company in a given era.
To filter by the Founded Year, expand the accordion.
There are 2 ways to search by Founded Year.
You can set a range of years. To do so, type in the Min and Max years (for example, 1998-2016 refers to any company founded within that timeframe).
You can also hover your mouse over the Min and Max fields to use the up and down arrows (for example, 6-15 refers to the age of the company in years).
To include companies with an unknown founding date, click the Include companies with an unknown funding date checkbox.
Languages
You can filter by Languages. This means that you can target the companies that cater to a global market or to the more local regions that you support.
To filter by Language, expand the accordion.
Click the Website supports ANY of these drop-down to select the applicable Languages for the search. There is no limit to how many Languages you can add.
To delete a selected Language, click on the name of the Language in the search bar.
To delete all selected Languages, click either X.
For a more generic search, you can specify how many Languages a website supports, without naming the languages. To do so, click the Website supports AT LEAST drop-down and select a number.
Retail Locations
You can filter by the number of Retail Locations a company has. This means that you can target the small, medium, or large businesses that fall within your ideal customer profile.
To filter by the number of retail stores a company has, expand the accordion.
Type in the Min and Max number of Retail Locations for which you want to search.
Job Postings
You can filter by current Job Postings. This means you can target companies actively growing or looking to fill a gap in their workflow or team.
Please note, Apollo uses its own proprietary technology to ensure this information is always up-to-date. Every day, Apollo examines different sources such as Lever, Taleo, Jobvite, and Greenhouse. It also examines sources such as Angellist on a weekly basis.
To filter by open positions, expand the accordion.
Click the Currently hiring for drop-down to select the positions that are most relevant to your sales campaign.
Click the Job located at drop-down to select the locations whereby the positions are open. There is no limit to how many positions or locations you can add to a search.
To delete a selected position or location, click the position title or location in the Search bar.
To delete all selected positions or locations, click either X.
You can also filter by the amount of active Job Postings a company has listed. To do so, type in the Min and Max number of Job Postings.
To filter by the dates in which a job is posted, click the From and To fields and select the dates on the calendar that appears.
You can also filter by timeframe. To do so, click the From and To fields, then click the Timeframe tab on the calendar.
Click the drop-down options to input the appropriate timeframe and then, click Apply.
