Overview

Google Maps on Apollo lets you search for local businesses by location and import them directly into Apollo, turning nearby businesses into accounts you can prospect. Whether you're targeting museums in Los Angeles or auto dealers in Chicago, you can discover, review, and import nearby companies in just a few clicks—no manual data entry required.

You can also find local businesses through Apollo MCP in a connected AI tool, like Claude or ChatGPT. Describe the business type and location you're targeting, then ask Apollo to find decision makers at those businesses.

Use an interactive map to search for companies by city, address, or your current location. You can also adjust your search radius and target specific business types to further refine your results. You can explore up to sixty company results per search, including ratings, review counts, and business websites, before deciding what you want to import to Apollo.

When you're ready to import, Apollo saves your selected companies as accounts and automatically adds them to a list for easy follow-up via sequences, workflows, and enrichment.

The Google Maps integration is ideal for sellers interested in more geography-based prospecting, or teams who already rely on Google Maps as part of their prospecting process.

Search for Local Companies

To find local companies with Google Maps:

1. Launch Apollo and go to Companies.
2. Click Import > Find local businesses.

3. Use the interactive map to set your search location.
   • Enter details to manually search for an address, city, or zip code.
   • Click Search by coordinates to enter a precise location via latitude and longitude.
   • Click Current location to search for companies near you. Apollo asks for permission to access your current location and provide it to Google.
4. Adjust the map radius to reduce or expand your search result limits by distance.

5. Select a business type to target. You can choose from the following pre-built options:

• Automotive
• Education
• Entertainment and recreation
• Financial
• Food and dining
• Government and public
• Health and wellness
• Home services
• Lodging
• Other services
• Professional services
• Shopping and retail
• Transportation
• Worship

6. Alternatively, use Free text as your search type to manually search for a business type that isn't on Apollo's list.

7. (Optional) Set a results limit. You can search for twenty, forty, or sixty companies at a time.
8. Click Search.

Apollo provides a list of local companies based on your search criteria. Each business is also pinned on the map. Each result displays the following Google Maps data:

• Company name
• Distance
• Company address
• Rating
• Review count
• Company website

9. Click View on map to zoom to a specific company's location.
10. When you're ready to save your results, bulk select all or check each company you want to save.
11. Click Save accounts.

12. Apollo automatically adds your imported companies to a list. Click View list to open your list and begin taking action on the local companies you saved. If a local company listing includes a phone number, you can access this number.
13. (Optional) Click View credit usage to review the total number of Apollo credits used to save your selected companies.

From your new companies list, find prospects at those businesses and add relevant contacts to sequences. You can also create automated workflows or get outreach guidance from Apollo's AI assistant.

Find Local Businesses with Your AI Tool

If you use Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect Apollo to find local businesses through Google Maps and identify decision makers without leaving your conversation. To get started, connect Apollo to Claude or connect Apollo to ChatGPT. If you've already connected Apollo, there's nothing new to set up.

In your connected AI tool, describe the business type, location, and people you want to reach. For example:

Find dental offices in Austin using Google Maps, then find their owners or office managers.

Apollo searches Google Maps for matching businesses, then looks for decision makers at those companies. You can refine the request with follow-ups, such as narrowing the location or changing the roles you want to contact.

Before any credits are spent, your AI tool shows the cost and asks for your approval. Review the results before saving records or taking further action.
