Overview
Analyze the performance of your emails to gain valuable insights about your target audience. You can track stats like emails delivered, opened, and opted out, as well as click tracking rates. The more you evaluate what works, the more you can test and improve your sequences and emails to increase engagement.
Apollo only recommends you enable click tracking if you have a strong domain reputation, have been following email best practices, and know how to use click tracking for specific campaigns.
If you use Vidyard for video embeds, you can track video clicks and watches with Vidyard Analytics.
If you're just starting out with email analytics, pay close attention to emails delivered to monitor deliverability and to reply rates for engagement. These core metrics can help you determine if your emails are resonating with your audience.

Access Email Analytics
When you send emails in Apollo, you can track team-wide email metrics from your emails hub, campaign-specific email statistics from a sequence, contact-specific email statistics from a contact profile, or holistic email data from analytics reports.
Access Team-Wide Email Metrics
You can review team-wide metrics related to emails directly from the Emails page. Use these analytics to gain a holistic understanding of outbound email performance and engagement rates across your entire sales team.
To do this:
- Apollo displays your team's email analytics dashboard. You can preview metrics for the following analytics reports related to emails:
Metric Description Email Stats Get a high-level overview of your team's stats for emails sent, emails opened, emails replied, and emails blocked. Email Funnel Visualize your outbound performance from delivery to interest. This helps you spot where prospects are dropping off or where you can improve your outreach content. For example, high opens but low replies may indicate weak content. Reps with Most Effective Emails Compare reps based on reply and interest rates to identify who’s writing high-performing emails and where others might need coaching or content help. Email Activity by Week Track email performance trends over time. You can use this to evaluate seasonality, experiment impact, or campaign consistency across your team. Most Effective Email Templates See which specific email templates are driving the most engagement so you can promote proven messaging or retire low-performing templates. Most Effective Email Sequences Identify which sequences consistently convert across all stages. This is ideal for cloning effective sequences or using them as baselines for new experiments. Most Engaged Personas with Emails Drill into which job titles or personas are most responsive. You can use this to sharpen persona targeting and prioritize high-converting segments. Most Engaged Company Sizes with Emails Understand which company sizes are showing the highest engagement, so you can adjust targeting or ICP definitions accordingly. Most Engaged Industries with Emails Identify which industries are resonating with your outbound messages. This helps you prioritize outreach or tailor copy by industry vertical. - Apply a timeframe or click Add filter to filter and refine the email metrics in your dashboard.
- Click Go to Analytics to browse Apollo's full suite of analytics dashboards and reports or create custom reports for your team.

Monitor Individual Email Statuses
On the Emails page, you can also review how your individual emails are performing per recipient. This gives you a more granular view into the status of specific emails.
To do this:
- Launch Apollo and click Emails.
- Use filters to narrow your results to a specific email or sequence.
- Hover over an email status for more insights.
Access Campaign-Specific Email Data
From the Sequences page, you can also review overall email performance statistics for emails related to a given sequence. This gives you a clearer picture of how email templates in a specific sequence are performing with the contacts enrolled in that sequence. To access email analytics via sequences:
- Launch Apollo and click Sequences.
- Select your sequence.
- Apollo shares overall sequence statistics as well as email tracking statistics per individual contact.
- (Optional) Toggle off Include bots to exclude bot opens and clicks from your metrics.
When you send an email to an inbox, anti-virus or security scanning bots often open, scan, and click through the email to ensure there's nothing harmful in it. However, bots can also inflate your campaign metrics, making it appear that you have a higher open or click rate than you really do.
On Apollo, you can opt to exclude these bot tracking events from your reports to ensure you're getting more accurate engagment metrics. Learn more about bot tracking.

Access Contact-Specific Email Data
Use the activity log in a contact's profile page to see specific timestamps for when a specific contact received and replied to your outbound emails.
To access email activity for a contact:
- Launch Apollo and click People.
- Use search filters to find a contact.
- Click the contact's name.
- Use the activity widget to find relevant emails. Hover over the email status to view additional insights.
You have now accessed email analytics from a contact profile.
