Overview

Teams with large contact lists can keep contact data updated with CSV enrichment. Enrichment improves both people and company data, providing the most updated information on names, job titles, location, employment, company funding, and more. CSV enrichment is a great way to leverage the vast amount of data available in Apollo for the most effective outreach to your existing contacts.

Import In, Enrich Out

Apollo has two CSV workflows. Import a CSV of contacts, accounts, or deals to create or update your records in Apollo. Alternatively, use CSV enrichment to add Apollo data to a CSV file and download the enriched file.

Check out the following sections to use CSV enrichment for your people or company data.

Check Your Plan

Check out Apollo plans to see which plans include CSV enrichment or credit packages. Your plan may limit the total number of record enrichments. Enrichment record limits don't reset at the end of your billing cycle. You can manage your plan to explore credit packages or upgrade options.

To enrich a CSV of contacts:

  1. Launch Apollo. In the left navigation, go to Data enrichment > CSV.
If you don’t see Data enrichment, your role or team may not have enrichment access. Contact your Apollo admin to enable access.
  2. Click Import CSV.

100,000 Paths to Enrichment

CSV files must be .csv files up to 50 MB and contain no more than 100,000 rows. Files that exceed these limits will cause an error.

To work around this limit, split large files into smaller separate CSVs.

  1. Under Enrich people, click Edit settings to choose the fields you want to enrich with Apollo data.
Edit settings is highlighted under Enrich people
  1. By default, all fields are selected. Check the data you want to enrich without impacting your team's setup.
  2. When finished, click Save settings.
Default enrichment fields are shown

Apollo can enrich the following fields for people CSVs. In Enrich people, Edit settings includes both people fields and company fields. Company fields control which company-related columns appear in the enriched people CSV. The fields available in Edit settings don’t change based on plan, permissions, Apollo-only enrichment, or Multi-source enrichment. However, Multi-source configuration options may only appear for eligible teams.

File Requirements

At a minimum, your contact CSV file must include one of the following groups of column headers so Apollo can successfully enrich your records. The more data you can provide, the better. This makes it easier for Apollo to recognize the contact or account.

  • First Name, Last Name, Company URL
  • First Name, Last Name, Company Name
  • Person Linkedin Url
  • Email
  1. Review your available enrichment credits. Click Increase limits if your team needs more enrichment credits. If Enrich with Multi-source is enabled, Apollo may require admin approval before your CSV enrichment runs. Multi-source enrichment can be more credit-intensive. To proceed without an approval request, turn Enrich with Multi-source off to use Apollo-only enrichment.

  1. Next, map the columns from your CSV to default fields in Apollo. You must map at least one of the following:
    • First name, last name, and company URL
    • First name, last name, and company name

  1. Choose whether Apollo should enrich email addresses, mobile numbers, or both for contacts. Mobile number enrichment requires Direct Dials access. Eligible teams may also see Multi-source options for email or phone enrichment. If your CSV has more than 50,000 rows, Multi-source is disabled and Apollo shows the standard options instead.
  2. Click Confirm.
Options are highlighted to enrich emails and phone numbers
  1. Apollo enriches the data in your CSV and emails you when the file is ready to download. Larger CSV files may take longer to enrich. Click Done or upload another CSV.
The Done button is highlighted on the CSV enrichment processing page

If you opted to enrich both emails and phone numbers, download your enriched CSV file to access new contact data for the following fields:

  • Email
  • Enriched work direct phone
  • Enriched home phone
  • Enriched mobile phone
  • Enriched other phone
  • Enriched corporate phone

Timing is Key

CSV files downloaded before February 13, 2025, included data for one enriched mobile number. CSV files downloaded on or after February 13, 2025, include enriched data for all available phone number types.

To access additional phone number types for contacts enriched before February 13, 2025, re-upload your original CSV file. Re-enriching your CSV file consumes additional credits.

When you get the enriched file, upload the contacts to Apollo. You can enroll them in a sequence, add them to a list, reach out with the dialer, or book meetings to continue outreach.

Check Enrichment Status and Download CSV

Once you've uploaded a CSV file, you can check the enrichment status and download an enriched CSV:
